(AMP-Chicago, Feb. 10, 2011) The American Muslims for Palestine, AMP, along with a coalition of several Chicago- land based organizations will hold a press conference this afternoon to congratulate the Egyptian people on their victory. The steadfastness of the Egyptian people in demanding their rights for freedom, democracy and a change of the Mubarak regime is a great achievement. The people of Chicago stand in solidarity and fully support the people of Egypt.
As Americans, we strongly support democracy and the freedom for people to play a role in shaping their future. The very basic values that the US was founded on are democracy and freedom. We expect our government to uphold these basic values around the world and refrain from supporting dictatorships.
