On Monday, April 20, 2026, American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), in collaboration with the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA), will lead a press conference demanding the immediate release of Salah Sarsour, a beloved Milwaukee community leader, husband, father, grandfather and lawful permanent resident of more than 30 years, who was abducted by ICE on Monday, March 30, while picking up his mail.

This administration is continuing to weaponize the justice system to advance Israeli interests, silence pro-Palestine advocacy, and violate First Amendment rights. We have seen this pattern with Mahmoud Khalil, Leqaa Kordia, Mohsen Mahdawi, and others.

What: Press Conference Demanding Release of Salah Sarsour
When: Monday, April 20th, 2026
Time: 2:30 PM EST
Location: Outside U.S. Supreme Court Building, 1 First St. NE, Washington, DC 20543

We demand the following:

  1. That the Department of Homeland Security and ICE immediately release Salah Sarsour from detention and allow him to return to his family and community in Milwaukee.
  2. That all charges and allegations against Salah Sarsour be dropped, particularly those based on unreliable Israeli military court convictions that lack due process.
  3. That the U.S. government cease the weaponization of immigration laws to target and silence Palestinian, Muslim, and pro-Palestine advocates exercising their First Amendment rights.
  4. That Congress launch an immediate investigation into the targeting of lawful permanent residents and visa holders for their protected political speech regarding Palestine.
