Netanyahu is not welcomed by Americans

AMP Calls on World Leaders to Protest Netanyahu’s United Nations Speech

American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) condemns allowing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC), to visit New York and speak at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). A man wanted for crimes against humanity should be treated as a pariah, not embraced as a legitimate head of state. That is why AMP calls on world leaders and foreign dignitaries to walk out of the assembly during Netanyahu’s speech.

Israel and Netanyahu’s contempt for the UN and international law is inseparable from the pro-Israel lobby’s longstanding influence in American politics. AIPAC and other U.S. pro-Israel institutions spread disinformation and bribe Congress into accepting their corrupt narrative. These nefarious activities have allowed Netanyahu to bend U.S. foreign policy to his will, imposing enormous costs on the American people. Since 1948, the U.S. has provided Israel with over $300 billion in economic and military assistance, adjusted for inflation, making Israel the largest recipient of U.S. foreign aid. Since October 2023 alone, the U.S. has provided at least $21.7 billion in military aid to Israel through September 2025, not including tens of billions more in arms sales and commitments to be paid or delivered in the years ahead.

It is not surprising that the U.S. continues its fealty to Netanyahu and Israel. That support has extended well beyond funding and weapons. The U.S. has repeatedly used its diplomatic power to shield Israel by vetoing over 50 UN Security Council resolutions. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also imposed sanctions against members of the UN and ICC. Trump explicitly made the purpose of this campaign clear, admitting that Rubio’s sanctions are designed to “defend Bibi.”

For the second year in a row, the Trump administration has banned a Palestinian delegation from attending the UN General Assembly, citing, among other things, Palestinian efforts to “internationalize” the “conflict” through institutions like the ICC. The hypocrisy is staggering. Palestinians are punished for pursuing protection under international law, but Israel is rewarded for violating it. 

Netanyahu’s presence on U.S. soil also affronts those who oppose him. 59% of Americans view Netanyahu negatively, while 60% now view Israel unfavorably. Americans reject Netanyahu, see Israel as a moral and strategic liability, and no longer want to be affiliated with them, politically or financially.

It is long overdue for the U.S., the UN, and the global community to stand up to Israel. No more toothless condemnations and milquetoast statements. The Palestinian people want the genocide and apartheid to end; not half-hearted efforts.
