Eid Without Al-Aqsa: Apart in Place, Together in Faith
The American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) family extends its warmest greetings on the blessed occasion of Eid al‑Fitr. We pray that Allah Almighty accepts our fasting, worship, and good deeds during the holy month of Ramadan. We also ask Him to grant mercy and relief to all those suffering oppression in occupied Palestine, Sudan, Lebanon, Iran, Kashmir, Myanmar, here in the United States, and across the world.
This year’s Eid arrives under a profound shadow of sorrow. The Gaza Strip continues to endure a slow‑motion genocide, as daily Israeli assaults on civilians and a relentless, brutal siege deepen the famine that has gripped the population for nearly two and a half years, amid the widespread destruction caused by Israel’s war of annihilation.
Meanwhile, Al‑Aqsa Mosque remains closed by Israeli authorities in a blatant violation of religious freedom for more than twenty days, marking the third consecutive Friday in which Palestinians have been prevented from performing Friday prayers and the Eid prayer.
At the same time, the joint U.S.–Israeli military assault on Iran and Lebanon enters its fourth week with no sign of de‑escalation. Instead, the aggression has expanded across the region, destabilizing it and producing serious repercussions for the global economy and energy markets.
Despite the pain and grief caused by the reckless decisions of certain world leaders—including in Washington and Tel Aviv—we remain committed to the prophetic tradition of seeking joy in Eid and carrying forward the spirit of Ramadan, which teaches us to nurture hope at all times. Yet hope cannot be realized without unwavering faith in Allah, coupled with conscious, persistent, and determined action to translate that faith into meaningful change.
This is our collective responsibility, our mission, and the spirit that guides our work at AMP as we strive, together with our community, to challenge harmful policies in this country and advance justice here and everywhere.
We extend our heartfelt wishes for a blessed Eid. May Allah accept your good deeds, and may the coming year bring us the joy of celebrating Eid in a liberated Al‑Aqsa Mosque, Allah willing.
