BREAKING: A Third Judge Orders Leqaa's Release, Now the Government MUST Comply

News

One year ago today, Leqaa Kordia was ripped away from her family and sent to an ICE prison in Texas. All of this because she protested Israel’s genocide in Gaza along with tens of thousands of her peers across the country.

While confined in the Prairieland Detention Center, Leqaa’s health deteriorated. She lost a dangerous amount of weight and was treated terribly by prison guards. She also endured a seizure for the first time in her life due to the horrible conditions imposed on her and others being held in the facility. Despite that, her spirit remains unbroken.

A powerful poem she wrote while in detention is now circulating in a video we created to raise awareness of her case. Each word flows from the depths of the heart and exudes so much meaning.

Despite being granted bond twice by an immigration judge, Leqaa remained confined by ICE. Today, exactly one year after her detention, a third bond hearing took place, at which a judge ordered Leqaa’s release on bond. Now, we demand that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) comply with this judicial order.

In these blessed last few nights of Ramadan, we pray that she is finally reunited with her family.
