AMP Condemns Israel’s Latest Onslaught of Gaza

(WASHINGTON, D.C. 8/9/2018)— Israel has marked its second day of continuous airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip by killing a family of three, including a 23-year-old woman who was nine months pregnant and her 18-month-old daughter.

Palestinians on Thursday buried Enas and Bayan Khamash after an Israeli airstrike hit their home in the Jaafari area of central Gaza in the middle of the night. Muhammad Khamash, who was severely injured during the strike, later died of his injuries.

These latest attacks, which resulted in a further 18 injuries, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, also included the destruction of a historic art and cultural center which was struck by eight missiles. [Watch the horrific video here]

Despite recent reports of a possible truce being brokered by the United Nations and Egypt that would halt Israel’s attacks on Palestinian protesters along the buffer zone and alleviate the humanitarian and economic suffering in Gaza, Israel has instead continued its aggression and indiscriminate killing of Palestinians.

For more than 11 years, the Gaza Strip has been under a brutal siege, which human rights observers say constitutes a war crime. According to UN observers, the crippling blockade of the tiny strip has made it unlivable to its 2 million inhabitants.

AMP reiterates its call on the U.S. government to stop shielding Israel from international reprimand and to demand that Israel ends its aggression and lifts the illegal siege on Gaza.
