Through education, advocacy, digital engagement, and movement-building, AMP plays a central role in shaping public discourse and organizing effective action for Palestine in the United States.
As AMP’s digital platforms continue to grow in reach and influence, the organization is expanding its digital communications capacity to strengthen storytelling, engagement, and mobilization across social media channels.
Position Summary
The Social Media Specialist is responsible for managing and executing AMP’s social media presence across platforms, producing compelling content, and engaging online audiences in support of AMP’s advocacy, education, and mobilization efforts. Reporting directly to the Digital Director, this role plays a key part in translating AMP’s messaging into impactful digital content that resonates with diverse audiences while navigating a complex and highly politicized media environment.
This is a mid-level role ideal for a skilled digital professional with strong content creation abilities, sound political judgment, and a deep understanding of the Palestine issue and the Palestine movement in the United States.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy & Management
- Manage day-to-day operations of AMP’s social media accounts across platforms such as Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and others as assigned.
- Execute social media strategies aligned with AMP’s advocacy goals, campaigns, and organizational priorities.
- Maintain consistent tone, messaging, and visual identity across platforms.
- Track platform trends, algorithm changes, and emerging digital tools to optimize performance and reach.
Content Creation & Production
- Create high-quality social media content, including:
- Graphics, carousels, and visual assets
- Short-form and long-form video content (reels, stories, TikToks, explainers)
- Captions, hashtags, and platform-specific copy
- Edit photos and videos for social media use, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strong storytelling.
- Repurpose content across platforms to maximize reach and engagement.
Advocacy & Narrative Engagement
- Translate complex political and advocacy messaging about Palestine into accessible, engaging, and accurate social media content.
- Engage with current events, breaking news, and movement moments with speed, sensitivity, and strategic judgment.
- Monitor conversations, comments, and messages related to AMP’s work, escalating issues or concerns as needed.
Community Engagement & Growth
- Engage followers through comments, direct messages, and interactive content.
- Support digital mobilization efforts such as calls to action, petitions, event promotion, and advocacy campaigns.
- Assist in growing AMP’s digital audience while maintaining meaningful and values-aligned engagement.
Analytics & Reporting
- Monitor social media performance metrics and provide reports to the Digital Director.
- Use insights and analytics to refine content strategy and improve performance.
- Support testing of new content formats, posting schedules, and engagement strategies.
Required Qualifications
Professional Experience & Skills
- 5–7 years of professional experience managing social media accounts for an organization, nonprofit, advocacy group, or media outlet.
- Demonstrated ability to create engaging, high-quality social media content across multiple platforms.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences and platforms.
- Experience managing multiple campaigns and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Content Creation & Technical Skills
- Proficiency in graphic design and content creation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms.
- Strong video editing skills using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or equivalent.
- Experience creating short-form video content optimized for social media platforms.
- Understanding of platform best practices, trends, and analytics tools.
Knowledge of Palestine & the U.S. Movement Landscape
- Solid understanding of the Palestine issue, including its political, historical, and human rights dimensions.
- Familiarity with the dynamics of the Palestine movement in the United States, including:
- Key narratives and messaging challenges
- Political sensitivities and media framing around Palestine advocacy
- Grassroots organizing and digital mobilization strategies
- Ability to communicate about Palestine responsibly, accurately, and strategically in a public digital space.
