First AMP Retreat Educates and Energizes Crowd
AMP's first-ever Palestine Retreat was a resounding success, with strong attendance in our sessions and a vibrant bazaar. Day one of our 17th Annual Convention for Palestine in the U.S. began acknowledging the parallels between the genocide against Palestinians and the genocide of the Native Americans.
Attendees learned about situating our struggle within the context of other oppressed peoples, and how to spot problematic rhetoric in the narrative about Palestine.
Speakers reminded attendees that everyone can be an activist in whatever spaces they inhabit, and the audience was invigorated with energy to continue the much-needed work for Palestine.
Day Two will commence tomorrow, Friday, November 29th,at the Tinley Park Convention Center with the Friday Khutba and prayer at 11:45 AM led by Imam Suleiman Hani. The full program will continue with main sessions, the Campus Activism Track, the youth program, the school program, and babysitting.
