Contact your senators TODAY and tell them #RejectFriedman

(WASHINGTON DC 02/15/2017) – The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will start hearings into the nomination of President Trump’s bankruptcy lawyer David Friedman as the U.S. ambassador to Israel.

Friedman’s nomination is bad for Americans and especially dangerous for Palestinians.

Even the Israeli press says Friedman is “more hardline in his views than Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.” In fact, he’s tied into the settler movement and is the president of an organization that funds settlements in the West Bank. He supports the annexation of settlement blocs into Israel and moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.

Friedman’s extreme stances contravene decades of U.S. foreign policy in the region. Allowing Friedman to become U.S. ambassador to Israel would ruin our credibility among our global partners; up-end more than 50 years of U.S. policy; inflame the region and send a message to Palestinians that the United States no longer cares about their rights or ending the occupation. In short, Friedman as ambassador would be dangerous for Palestinians and in conflict with U.S. national interests in the area.
