AMP talking on Palestine Platform at national party conventions

(WASHINGTON DC, 07/19/2016) – The American Muslims for Palestine, a national education organization, has been hard at work this summer ensuring both political parties recognize that the issue of Palestinian rights must be included in their platforms, which will be presented during the Republic National convention this week in Cleveland and the Democratic National Convention next week in Philadelphia.

For weeks, AMP has helped write language for the Palestine platform and, together with several partner organizations, submitted it to both parties platform-writing committees for consideration. We’re reaching out to progressives in Cleveland to oppose the Republican Party’s deference to Israel and for not recognizing the occupation of Palestine. 

We are currently on the ground in Cleveland and will be in Philadelphia next week. The plan is to speak at educational workshops on US policy, and US military aid to Israel, interact with party delegates and disseminate our newest booklet, “Quick Facts: US policy on issues related to Palestine/Israel.”

We are witnessing history this year. Never before has Palestine been such a major issue in a presidential election year.
