Dr. Hatem Bazian, AMP chairman, and Kristin Szremski, director of media and communications, both spoke at the Sabeel Sacramento conference March 16 and 17, an event that AMP co-sponsored.

Dr. Bazian discussed Islamophobia and its Zionist connections before an audience of close to 100 people Friday night. Many in the audience were unaware of how those who create and disseminate articles and other anti-Muslim materials are connected and financed by a variety of Zionist organizations and individuals.

“They are fomenting this Islamophobia here in the United States, because if they can demonize Muslims here then garnering US support to bomb Muslims in Palestine becomes much easier,” Bazian said.

Media Director Kristin Szremski presented two workshops on Friday and Saturday, as well as in a general plenary session on Saturday attended by more than 300 people. In all three sessions, she spoke about “Creeping Normalcy,” the Zionist tactic of co-opting the Palestine solidarity movement through ‘interfaith cooperation,’ which in reality is an attempt to normalize the occupation.

“We were so extremely pleased to be able to work so closely with Sabeel and we look forward to continuing to work with this important organization,” Dr. Bazian said.

Dr. Bazian and the Rev. Don Wagner recently co-wrote an article that refutes Islamophobic claims made by Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren in a Wall Street Journal article that Christians are fleeing Palestine because of harassment by Muslims.

Dr. Bazian will also be speaking at a Sabeel conference in Sunny Vale, Calif., on March 23 and 24.

The cooperative piece, which currently is being prepared for publication, discusses the close ties of Muslim and Christian Palestinians in Palestine.

“Christians are leaving Palestine because of the occupation and for no other reason,” the co-written article states.
