Thank your Representative for opposing Israeli home demolitions
This week, more than 60 Members of Congress sent a letter to the Trump administration opposing Israel’s demolition of Palestinian homes and calling on Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to ensure that US equipment is not used in these demolitions.
Thousands of AMP supporters took action in the last couple of months and asked their Representatives to join the letter.
This Congressional letter is important because it seeks to hold Israel accountable for its human rights abuses. Unlike toothless resolutions or mere expressions of concern, this letter could trigger a process resulting in the US ceasing to provide Israel with bulldozers and other US-made equipment used for home demolitions.
The impressive number of signatories on this letter is proof that the tide has turned in the US Congress. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Israel increased its destruction of Palestinian homes in the West Bank by 40 percent in 2019 compared to 2018. For far too long, Israel has enjoyed bipartisan immunity for its crimes, but those days are finally over.
In solidarity,
Raed Jarrar, Advocacy Director
