(WASHINGTON DC 07/03/2017) -- Kristin Szremski, AMP's director of media and communication, attended a daylong civil society forum Friday hosted by the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People at the UN headquarters in New York. The event was organized also by the Israel Palestine Working Group of the United Nations.

Keynote speaker was Noble Peace Prize Laureatte Jody Williams, who won the prestigious prize for her work on landmines. The forum was to mark 50 years of Israeli occupation, and the day's event was titled, "Ending the Occupation: Creating the Space for Human Rights, Development and a Just Peace." It was geaared toward civil society organizations.

"It was affirming to be in the presence of old and new friends, all of whom are committed to working for Palestinian justice and liberty," Szremski said. "It was also heartening to see that AMP's work is aligned with the forum's message -  that activist organizations need to continue to provide education, legislative advocacy and to support the BDS movement."
