Take action today for Freedom Flotilla III
(WASHINGTON DC 06/28/2014) -- The American Muslims for Palestine, a national education and advocacy organization, announces today that it stands in solidarity with the activists, journalists and political figures aboard the Freedom Flotilla III, a fleet of four boats attempting to break the eight-year siege on the Palestinians of Gaza with medical supplies and solar panels.
AMP remembers the nine courageous human rights activists, including American citizen Dogan Furkan, on the Mavi Marmara, whom Israeli commandos executed in international waters in May 2010, and we call upon President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry to ensure safe passage for the vessels of Freedom Flotilla III.
Already, divers attacked the boat Juliano, named after the late director of the Freedom Theater, damaging its propellers, causing the vessel to take on water. The boat was able to make it into the port in Greece, where it sank, the Freedom Theater announced.
AMP calls upon its supporters and all people of conscience to speak up now to demand the US force Israel to allow the remaining vessels to dock at the Port of Gaza safely.
TAKE ACTION
You can support the Flotilla and help ensure its safety!

MONDAY: Please join the National Call-In Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST and call the White House and State Department. TALKING POINTS: The siege on Gaza amounts to collective punishment, which violates international law. The people aboard the Freedom Flotilla are bringing life-saving medical supplies and solar panels and they deserve. Israel violated international law in 2010, when it attacked the Freedom Flotilla, killing nine unarmed activists. Please pressure Israel to allow Freedom Flotilla III safe passage to the Port of Gaza

Follow @AMPalestine and @GazaFFlotilla on Twitter and use the hashtags #FreedomeFlotilla and #NextPortGaza. Israel has had the Palestinians of Gaza under a total siege since 2007. The siege, which amounts to collective punishment in contravention of international law, and three major Israeli assaults on the tiny strip since 2008, including the attack last summer that killed more than 2,200 Palestinians, including 547 children, has left the residents there without adequate housing, sufficient medical facilities, drinking water, or consistent electricity. The United Nations has said the area will become uninhabitable by the year 2020, if the siege is not lifted.
