U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson went out on a limb for Palestinians NOW HE NEEDS OUR HELP
U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) has a history of supporting Palestinian human rights. And last week in Philadelphia he spoke on a panel discussion organized by our friends at the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation and American Friends Service Committee. The event was held to educate delegates to the Democratic National convention.
During his remarks, Rep. Johnson made a comparison between settlement activity and termites. He said settlements were eating up Palestinian land the way termites can eat up a house. Now Zionists are attacking him by twisting his words. They say he called Jews termites, which simply did not happen.
AMP was there and we know what he said. These are his exact words:
There has been a steady, almost like termites can get into a residence and eat it up before you know that you’ve been eaten and you fall in on yourself, there has been settlement activity that has marched forward with impunity at a [sic] ever-increasing rate to the point where it has become alarming.”
Watch the video and see for yourself.
U.S. policy considers settlements illegal and an obstacle to peace and the U.S. State Department last week issued its strongest condemnation yet on plans for new settlement construction, calling them “corrosive.”
Mr. Johnson issued a clarifying statement, but the chairman of the Georgia Republican Committee has called for his resignation anyway. (Click on News).
We must support Rep. Johnson. We cannot allow him to face this attack alone.
