Since Israel’s ramped up aggression in the Gaza Strip began Monday, Israeli Occupation Forces have killed at least 51 Palestinians, including several children and women, and wounded more than 450, as of this writing. But, unfortunately, the number of fatalities and injuries are changing minute by minute.
The ramped up assault comes after two weeks of deadly incursions into the West Bank that resulted in the arrests of more than 500 Palestinians, including dozens of children, home demolitions, thousands of raids and the arrests of more than 100 Palestinian citizens of Israel. During its incursion into the West Bank that began on June 12, Israeli forces killed 19 Palestinians and Israeli settlers killed four — including 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Kdheir, who was burned alive. In addition, American high school student Tarek Abu Khdeir, Mohammed’s cousin, was arrested as he was waiting for dawn prayer, brutally beaten, detained and denied medical treatment. After global pressure, including the intense social media campaign #StandUpforTariq launched by AMP, Tarek was released to house arrest - even though he was not charged with any crime.
All of these actions amount to collective punishment, which is forbidden by international law. The United State’s unconditional support of Israel hurts our standing in the Arab and Muslim world. US support for Israel threatens our national security.
Please sign the petition asking President Barack Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry and members of Congress to hold Israel accountable for its international law violations and collective punishment of the Palestinian people.
