AMP mourns passing of Muhammad Ali but celebrates his legacy

The American Muslims for Palestine expresses our deepest condolences to our nation and to the family of Muhammad Ali. Muhammad Ali not only achieved his greatness in the boxing ring, he also achieved it by allowing a high moral compass to guide his life.

He was a staunch proponent for justice and spoke on behalf of the oppressed, regardless of their religion, ethnicity or color. He personified the essence of Islam, which is justice, and he worked hard to ensure everyone could benefit from the values upon which this country was founded -- equality, liberty and justice for all.

As Palestinians, we remember with gratitude that Muhammad Ali was an ardent advocate for justice and freedom in Palestine. We mourn his loss today. We also celebrate his legacy and rest assured in the knowledge that the values for which he stood live on.
