AMP chairman wins prestigious campus award

Student Sara Mizner, a senior in peace and conflict studies at Berkeley, also received the award. She is the first student recipient of the honor, which includes Professor Nancy Scheper-Hughes and Professor Emeritus Robert N. Bellah as past winners.
Dr. Bazian and Ms. Mizner were selected from an esteemed pool of nominations for their moral courage in the face of injustice, ability to foster meaningful activism, inspiration to others to live reflective and purpose-filled lives and their spiritual sustenance from faith, according to the statement.
Dr. Bazian, a professor of Near Eastern and Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, is also an adjunct professor of law at the Boalt School of Law, UC Berkeley. He is also the author of the book, “Jerusalem in the Islamic Consciousness: A Textual Survey of Muslim Claims and Rights to the Sacred City.”
